Captain Marvel brightens the theaters with it being the first Marvel female superhero to hit the big screen. It received a 78% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.2/10 on IMDb. I completely agree with these ratings. Let me begin by saying that I really wanted to like Cap Marvel right from the get-go when Fury paged her after the destruction caused by Thanos. The movie mostly focuses on the idea of women empowerment but the lack of action doesn’t justified the rating. When the trailers & posters started drifting in, the oomph meter inside me went into overdrive, because I was really looking forward to a female superhero who would be given a BIG SPACE, and squaring off against the MCU’s most powerful villain to date. In the trailers prior to the release of Captain Marvel, it shows Carol Danvers, early years up to her becoming Captain Marvel. In the movie there’s this very beautiful scene where it address the fact that women can do more or even greater things than men. It is the moment in which Carol is being both physically and mentally pounded time after time yet, she stood back up. However, besides this and a few other scenes it just lacks action in general. In Captain Marvel, there is really only one real high-packed, CGI filled to the brim action scene which is at the end of the movie. Compared to the Wonder Woman movie who received a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an IMDb rating of 7.5/10, Captain Marvel fell short. Wonder Woman achieved its goal to empower women of all ages yet, was aware of its super hero perimes and give us action packed senace and a well thought out plot. That movie came out in 2017, two years before Captain Marvel yet, can still beat it.  By lacking action Captain Marvel defeats the tradition of MCU movies with, all the movies prior to Captain Marvel being clearly action-packed. Well, what happened after movie day? I rate this movie at the most a 3 out of 5 stars.
